In the cup
The cup opens with notes of orange blossom and a crisp green apple acidity. As it cools, pomelo emerges, bringing a juicy acidity to the fore. A sweet rooibos tea aftertaste develops throughout. While we recommend a resting period of four to six weeks, the coffee can be enjoyed from week two onwards — though we suggest avoiding the period between weeks three and four.
About the bean
Situated between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, Nyeri is one of Kenya's most celebrated coffee regions. High altitudes, abundant rainfall, rich volcanic soils, and a warm climate combine to produce coffees of exceptional clarity and structure. Karatina Ngunguru AA is no exception. Processed using the traditional Kenyan washed method — depulped, fermented in tanks, thoroughly rinsed, and dried on raised beds, it delivers a cup that is crisp, zesty, and beautifully sweet.
